Lookalikes
Lookalikes
Good morning!
I heard a comedian one time say that Elvis impersonators never seem to look like Elvis, but they all look like each other! Has anyone every told you you look like someone else? Maybe someone has even told you you look like someone famous. Depending on who that person is, you feel either flattered or embarassed.
People were made in the likeness or image of God - "Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness'" - Gen 1:26. Theologians and philosophers have wrestled with the idea that man is made in God's image for years. What does it mean to be made in and be in the image of God?
The fall of man marred the image of God greatly, but not totally, and certainly not permanently. 2 Corinthians 3:18 provides believers with an incredible description of what is our current and future condition in Christ, "But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord." When people watch us, do they see the image of God being unveiled in our lives? Are they consciously or even subconsiously reminded of the One who died for our sins and theirs?
I challenge each of us today to live as those who bear the image of God. This is not something to take lightly, nor is it something that we can fully grasp. We must make every effort to hide ourselves in the glory of God that His image will shine through brightly for all to see.
Be blessed,
Jay
PS - just for fun see if you can pick out the real Elvis - good luck!
