Priorities
Priorities
Matt 22:35-40
Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 38 This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 40 On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets."
How do you order your priorities? Before you answer that question, I want you to think about what you've done over the last 24 hours. After you've thought about it, make a list of your priorities and compare it to what you actually spent your time and money on. Do they match? If you are like most people, the things we say are our priorities are not necessarily our actual priorities.
Jesus made no bones about the fact our top priority in life should be to love God. We love Him by obeying His Word out of a grateful heart. In fact, Jesus goes so far as to say that if you do not obey His words, you don't love Him. Does that sound harsh to you? It's really not, it's just the truth.
As you go throughout your day, take some time to order your priorities. Make sure God is at the top of the list. You can do this by spending time in His word and by talking to your Savior. He wants to talk with you! I would say that if God wants to talk, we ought to make it a priority to listen.
Be blessed,
Jay
