Spider Webs

Spider Webs

It was one of those crisp autumn mornings I love so much.  The damp chill and fog in the air reminded me that summer was gone and winter is not far around the corner.  As I drove through the early morning sun, I noticed a spider web that was glistening high above the road.  A few seconds later, I saw another one, and then another.  All along the road that morning, connected to the power lines above the road, were glistening spider webs.

As I thought about those webs, I realized that they had been there before.  Each morning, in fact, those webs were there along with the spiders that made them.  The difference on that day was that the fog that made the webs visible.  The fog had revealed something, for all to see, which was a reality.  Those webs were strong, they caught food for the spider, and they were the source of life for the spider.

Hebrews 11:1 says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."  The spider webs are very much like our faith in God.  Both provide the strength and source of our lives.  Both are sometimes not seen by a quick glance, or by a casual observer.  However, when the fog of life rolls in, faith is revealed, and its evidence is seen by all.

Chapter 11 of Hebrews goes on to say that without faith it is impossible to please God.  There is no other way to make God happy, except to put your faith in Him.  Have you placed your faith in the saving grace of Jesus Christ?  If you have not, then why not do it today?  If you have, then I challenge you to build your web of faith each day so that when the fog rolls in your faith will shine brightly for all to see.

Be blessed today,
Jay
