For I am the Lord, I do not change - Mal 3:6
Our lives, in many ways, are like roller coasters. We have good days, bad days, terrible days, and fantastic days. Many times how our day goes depends on such trivial things as getting a good parking spot at the mall or having exact change at the Wal-Mart checkout. Other times we struggle because of real difficulties that grieve our soul.
Aren't you glad we serve a God who never changes? Isn't it wonderful to go to God knowing that His response is not dependant on His mood, or whether or not he overslept? We should always be careful to avoid trivializing God's attributes because He is far greater than we can possibly imagine, but to put in our terms, God never has a bad day. If you would like an important sounding word that describes God in this way, it is "immutable", which simply means unchanging or unable to be changed. In other words, God is your strong tower and there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that can change that!
So whether you are on the mountain top today, down in the deep valley, or somewhere in between, God has not moved. He's right there where He's always been and He's ready to deliver you, strengthen you, encourage you, rebuke you, or even chastise you. He's continuing the good work that He promised He would be faithful in completing.
