Glimpses of Truth II

Glimpses of Truth II

"Open my eyes, that I may see glimpses of truth Thou hast for me..." Today a great truth surfaced at Dwight. They are a generous people that love the Lord and His church. In one day they paid off a $60,000 debt on the New Life Center. I think we need to add "The New Life Place" to the church name. I certainly sense "New Life" there.

A great truth from Stand Firm resonated with me today. "Make one-on-one time with God a priority." Stephen Olford said, "I want to hear the voice of God before I hear anyone else's in the morning and His voice is the last voice I want to hear at night."

"Godly men make a habit of spending time with God." Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, He (Jesus) got up, went out, and made His way to a deserted place. And He was praying there. (Mark 1:35). Jesus made a regular habit of getting up early to be alone with the Father. David said he cried out to God "morning, noon, and night" (Ps. 55:17).  Daniel prayed to God three times a day. (Daniel 6:10). Great Christians of history made a habit of spending time with God daily in prayer and Bible reading.

Dr. Greg Frizzell said that to have a powerful prayer life "You must make an absolute commitment to consistently spend significant time alone with God in uninterrupted prayer".

"As we practice a daily devotional time, we will discover some amazing benefits. We will experience God's joy. We will rest in God's strength, and our spiritual batteries will be charged. We will discover the peace of God that comes from peace with God. Spending time with God helps us to relinquish our worries and concerns to His control. Spending time with Him helps us to conquer sin in our lives. As we abide in Him each day, we learn to trust Him more and to align our prayers with His will. As we become more like Christ, our words and actions will reflect His love and draw others to Him." Stand Firm 7-12-15.

The truth for me is that a daily, quality, quite time with God has been the most significant part of my journey with the Lord. It a truth the serious Christian will not ignore. If I can help you with this discipline please let me know.

Blessings to you all,

Bro. Vince
